Real World Second Quarter 2013

The great thing about Real World is that this assignment allows your child to pick various activities that they enjoy doing.  It allows flexibility and plays to each students strengths while reinforcing what we are learning in class during the quarter.  It teaches them how to work together when they go to the tech lab, and it also introduces them to new tech tools that may have not learned about before.  Most students will tell you that their favorite thing about Real World is the food.  But, you would be surprised at how much information they take in while listening to their peers present on various topics about the Francophone world.
This nine weeks French 1 studied famous Canadians, Christmas traditions in France, created their own coat of arms, made family photo albums in French, studied the French artist Georges Seurat, and of course, we made French food.  They made Marie Antoinette cakes, Canadian desserts, and the famous Buche de Noel.
French 2 studied the artists Marc Chagall, Paul Cezanne, and Vincent Van Gogh(he lived in France).  Students presented current events going on in France, studied the region Le Midi, French fashion designers, designed their dream homes, and labeled their own homes in French vocabulary.  We learned about French musicians such as Daft Punk, Christophe Mae and Ben L'Oncle in French 1 and 2.  French 2 also brought Buche de Noel and food from the Midi Region in France.
French 3 made baby books and photo journals for their escargots.  They researched the artist Edward Manet, and Pfeiffer made a replica of his work.  We studied idiomatic French expressions and created flashcards for our vocab on quizlet.  French 3 also made Buche de Noel.  Please enjoy a short video of Real World this week.
